==Early life and education==
Dr. Joy Trueblood was born and raised in Des Moines, [[Iowa]]. She attended Grand View College in Des Moines, where she obtained a [[Bachelor of Arts]] degree in Interdisciplinary studies, focusing on Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. During the summer of 1981, she also completed a course in Inorganic Chemistry at Drake University in Des Moines.

After completing her undergraduate studies, Dr. Trueblood attended the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City, where she received her Medical Degree (M.D.) in May 1986. She then completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of Illinois at Chicago from July 1986 to June 1989.

Following her residency, Dr. Trueblood completed a residency in Internal Medicine at UnityPoint-Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines from July 1989 to June 1990.
