Early Life and Education

Maureen James Ochigbo Ajogwu (born September 30) is a Nigerian-American musical artist known professionally as Rap Goddess. She is a rapper, songwriter, and performer who has risen to stardom in the music industry. The Hip-Hop maestro is also a medical practitioner and entrepreneur. She is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of RG Records.

Rap Goddess was born in Niagara County West Coast Medical Center in the United States and is an American citizen by birth. She was born to Nigerian parents who had emigrated to the United States. She arrived in the world on September 30th to the family of Mr. James Ochigbo Ajogwu and Mrs. Rose Agbo, and she also holds Nigerian citizenship.

Rap Goddess and her family associated themselves with the Black Community in the United States. Hence, she lived in predominantly black neighbourhoods during her formative years. She is from a family of seven and has 6? Siblings – four sisters and 3 brothers.

Rap Goddess underwent preschool, elementary, middle, and high education at leading public-owned schools in the United States. She had graduated from high school with good grades after four years of study.

After earning her high school diploma, Rap Goddess enrolled at one of America’s choice universities for further study, after four academic sessions, she earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from the University of Port Harcourt.

From high school, Rap Goddess harboured dreams of becoming a music artist. Her love for music was sparked in childhood, inspired by leading Hip-Hop and Gospel artists of the time. By her teenage years, she had started writing her own gospel songs and would perform her renditions of popular gospel tracks for her siblings. Rap Goddess began her musical journey in 2009, dedicating her free time to writing gospel songs in her bedroom and recording a few as an indie gospel artist.

As she evolved creatively, Rap Goddess transitioned from gospel to Hip Hop in 2011, marking the start of her career as a rapper. She has since honed her skills through underground rap battles and studio sessions. She frequently visits local studios and collaborates with producers and A&Rs to perfect her craft. Over the years, she has released several mixtapes, building a loyal fanbase within her community.

After much anticipation, Rap Goddess released her debut album, Big Motion, on April 12th, 2024. This 7-track project has been a massive hit in the Hip-Hop scene, achieving impressive streaming numbers and gaining extensive airplay across radio stations in North America, Europe, and Africa. The album has topped several local music charts worldwide, especially in Nigeria. Big Motion‘s success has significantly boosted her popularity in the African Hip-Hop industry, earning her the title of leading female rapper in the Nigerian music industry. Her new release “Goddess of Rap” is one of the biggest HipHop song of all time as it considered a timeless masterpiece.

In addition to her career as a music artist, Rap Goddess is a music executive. She is the Founder and Chief Executive officer of RG Records

2023: She has also been awarded as the Most Beautiful Female Rapper in Nigeria.

2025: Rap Goddess received the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the Africa Hiphop Community.
